Information
Überflieger.de is a price comparison site that compares the price of tickets from over 1,000 online travel agencies, regular airlines and low-cost airlines. Finding cheap flights is fast, easy and it’s for free at Überflieger.de. When you find your ticket you purchase/book yourself directly with the airline or online travel agency. Überflieger.de does not sell flight tickets.
When you visit Überflieger.de you can find the cheapest and best trip to the destination of your choice. We can also help you find trips with multiple stops or which go via secondary airports. You can also use our unique search functions to search up to 15 destinations simultaneously and mix and match with our Price calendar, or put a price alert on your planned trip(s) for those dates you want to travel.
Überflieger.de is a product of Flightmate AB, Sweden. Since 2007, Svenska Flightmate, via the brand name Flygresor is Sweden’s biggest cheap flights comparison search engine. It is our ambition to be your local choice too. We want Flightmate to be the world’s most user-friendly and social search engine for cheap flights and your user experience means everything to us. We are always looking to improve our service, develop new, useful functions and offer trips from an airport near you. Travelling is something social and positive, and our aim is that the booking is too.
Search box
The easy-to-use Überflieger.de search box lets you search and compare prices on one-way flights and return flights.
Überflieger.de compares prices from all leading travel agencies who, in turn, provide tickets from over 800 regular airlines and 100 low-cost airlines spanning the globe. That is why you will find the cheapest and best alternatives for your trip at Überflieger.de.
Filtered search results
By default, Überflieger.de lists search results in price order, with the lowest price on top. You can change the order of this information, for example by fastest travel time, or by best possible results, which means that you see the best combinations of travel time and price at the top.
In addition to changing the sort order, you can also filter out unwanted search results. For example high prices, long transfer times, transfers on unwanted airports or trips that require a change of airports. You can also filter by payment method, travel agencies and airlines.
A useful tip if you are travelling long-haul; sort by “travel time” and use the “price filter” to filter out the most expensive flights, in order to search for a ticket that combines low price and short travel time.
Search result Price calendar
If you are flexible about departure and return date(s) use the Price calendar to find the cheapest date(s) to travel.
PriceHunter
The PriceHunter enables you to search for prices and flights that other visitors have found. It is possible to search for cheap tickets over a longer time period, when you do not know the precise travel dates.
Price Alert
Are you waiting for prices for a certain destination to fall? Let Überflieger.de help you by creating a watch list that automatically informs you via email when the price to a selected destination falls below a certain price.
Climate change
How we rank CO2 emissions
Überflieger.de commissioned the world famous KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and Stockholm University to help develop a mathematical model to estimate C02 emissions produced by flights and a multitude of additional factors. With KTH’s help and expertise we hope to refine and develop the model and encourage others to contribute their data and research so that we can make it as accurate and as easy-to-understand as possible. Quite simply, we want to empower you to make informed decisions about the environmental consequences of flying. One very pleasing result from the study is that just because a flight is more expensive, it is does not automatically mean that it is better for the environment. It’s quite the opposite in many cases and means that even if you buy cheap flight tickets you can limit your environmental impact. But what you need to know is which cheap flight ticket you should buy.
The parameters
- Fuel consumption on start, taxiing, take-off, flying at cruising altitude and approach.
- Distance covered; an approximation of the actual distance, not just in a straight line.
- If the aircraft is equipped with winglets (wingtips devices that control aircraft drag)
- Increased effect of cloud formation when flying at high altitude
- Seating configuration of relevant airline’s aircraft type on the route
- Seat occupancy rate for the relevant airline
- Carbon dioxide conversion factor to calculate the amount of CO2 per kg of aviation fuel
Impact of data quality
Data gathered from airlines, travel agencies and others is not always of the highest quality and we have used approximations based on relevant routes and airlines in this case. The airline and travel industry is improving at providing primary, real-time data and this will increase the quality of the calculations.
After analysing a huge amount of data on actual flight routes, aircraft types and configurations used on relevant routes, there exist approximated values on actual routes, airlines and aircraft types based on data being of deficient quality at the time of the user performing the search.
General conclusions
Fewer stopovers, more modern aircraft and more passengers per flight have less impact on the environment, as do airlines with modern fleets that configure their aircraft with more seats. But even a flight with an airline with older aircraft that is configured to carry more passengers, or is a direct flight, produces the same effect. You may think that this gets very complex and you would be right. That is why you should only use this tool for your planned trip to figure out the optimal conditions between your various travel options, based on airline, aircraft and actual route. This is why you should not arrive at the hasty conclusion that you should only ever choose one, particular airline. Instead you should take the whole picture into account when the model is applied in the search results.
Have a great trip!

Questions and answers
Why should you use Überflieger.de?
Many airlines and travel agencies claim they sell the cheapest tickets. By searching at Überflieger.de you can quickly and easily find out who is telling the truth.
Five excellent reasons why you should search for flights at Überflieger.de:
- Overview - Überflieger.de compares ticket prices from all leading travel agencies and gives a clear overview.
- Search filters - quickly and easily sort out the right trip for your specific wishes with our search filters.
- Total price – compare the total price with your desired payment method and add-ons such as baggage and the option to rebook.
- Best sorting – sorts trips based on several factors including low price, short travel time and few stopovers.
- Price Calendar and Price Cutter – tools for the flexible traveller showing if there are cheaper trips on nearby dates.
How do I find the cheapest tickets?
A general rule is that the earlier you book, the cheaper the flights. And the longer the trip, the earlier you need to book.
Generally, the rule is to plan ahead in order to find cheap tickets. The longer the flight, the earlier you should start comparing prices. However, travel agencies may release their trips at different times. Überflieger.de has several tools that can help travellers find the cheapest flight tickets, for example the Price Calendar, Price Hunter, Price Cutter and Price Alert. Feel free to watch our tutorial videos under the "About us" menu. Keep in mind that flight prices change quickly: search results are real-time and subject to change. If you don't buy the trip immediately the price may have changed by your next search.
Can you send me a quote for a trip
Überflieger.de does not sell anything and consequently, cannot provide quotes. Überflieger.de provides web services to enable you to compare prices from the cheapest airlines and online travel agencies.
Can I call someone to get help with booking a flight?
Überflieger.de is a web service where you can search for the cheapest flights yourself. The prices come from the largest and cheapest travel agencies and apply when you make the booking yourself at the travel agency of your choice. If you still need telephone support, some travel agencies offer a phone number you can call for help, but in that case different prices than those shown on Überflieger.de usually apply.
As Überflieger.de does not sell flight tickets, Überflieger.de is unable to provide phone support.
Can I search for a flight with an open return date?
Überflieger.de offers a search service for flights where the traveller knows the dates for both outbound and return travel. Most travel agencies offer the option to make the ticket rebookable for an additional cost. If you want to book a different kind of trip we recommend contacting a travel agency directly to arrange a ticket that suits your needs.
Can I search for flights with stop-overs?
Überflieger.de only provides flights between two locations with no stop-overs. If you would like another type of ticket, please contact the airline or travel agency to find a suitable solution.
Can I bring my dog on the plane?
You need to contact the travel agency directly to get information on what rules apply for travelling with animals. The rules vary depending on the airline and destination. Some airlines allow animals in both the cabin and hold, some do not allow animals on their flights at all. Certificates and documentation for the animal may also be required.
How much baggage am I allowed to bring?
Überflieger.de is a search engine that finds and compares prices on flights from different travel agencies. The actual booking is made with the travel agencies. For all questions regarding the trip, such as questions about baggage, please contact the travel agency. Baggage rules vary depending on the airline, flight ticket and destination. Please check for terms, conditions and fees on the travel agency's site before completing the booking.
I found a cheap flight yesterday, but it seems to be gone today. Will the price come back?
Überflieger.de is a search engine that finds and compares prices from different travel agencies. When you find a cheap flight ticket you need to act quickly to book it, the seats available to that price may be limited. Usually it is more affordable to book well in advance, but prices can go both up and down. Überflieger.de does not sell trips and does not set prices — prices are set by the travel agencies that sell the trips.
Why is it get more expensive per person to book two tickets instead of one?
In some cases, it is cheaper to book several tickets at the same time, in other cases it may be cheaper to book the tickets separately. If a search shows that two tickets cost more per ticket than a single ticket, it is usually because airlines use a system of different fare classes where the price goes up as more seats are sold. If only one seat is available in a lower fare class when you try to book two seats, most airlines will book both seats in the more expensive class. It may therefore be cheaper to buy the two tickets separately, but there is a risk that the travellers won't be seated together or that complications may arise in the event of a cancellation or rebooking. Some travel agencies may show an error message when you try to make a booking where seats fall into different booking classes.
Why doesn't the price match when I click through to the travel agency's website?
Überflieger.de never invents trips or prices to attract users. Neither do the travel agencies or the GDSs (global distribution systems, e.g. Amadeus, Sabre or Worldspan). When you search on Flygresor.se a real-time search is made in the travel agencies' systems, which in turn check availability with various GDSs. These are advanced and complex systems with hundreds of thousands of trips and prices that are constantly changing. Errors can unfortunately occur, but all parties work to minimize them. If the price doesn't match, it may be because that fare class has just sold out, or because another user has made a reservation but has not yet completed the payment. It may also be because there are not enough seats in a fare class for all travellers in the booking (see question: Why does it get more expensive when I book two tickets instead of one?). Prices for flight tickets can fluctuate very rapidly up and down depending on supply, demand, promotions at travel agencies and many other factors.
A common problem is when you are booking several tickets where there are insufficient seats in one price/booking class for all travellers (see question "Why is it more expensive to book two tickets than one?"). Sometimes prices may also be displayed for flights that just sold out or where someone made a reservation but has not yet paid. Keep in mind that prices of flights fluctuate with the dollar rate, supply, demand, airline and travel agency campaigns as well as a number of other factors.
How can a flight be available at Überflieger.de, when it is sold out at all travel agencies?
Most airlines sell their tickets through reservation systems known as GDSs (e.g. Amadeus, Sabre or Worldspan). Travel agencies have agreements with one or more GDSs and sell trips available through the GDS. If a trip sells out in one GDS, it becomes unavailable at all travel agencies using the same GDS. In some cases someone may have reserved a ticket but not yet paid for — if payment is not completed in time the ticket may become available again. Otherwise you will need to choose a different travel option.
How do I change the date of my flight?
Most cheap flight tickets cannot be cancelled or rebooked. If you want the option to change the date of your flight you need to purchase a rebookable ticket. You can tick "Rebookable" when searching on $domain. A rebookable trip is usually more expensive. Travel agencies may call rebookable tickets "flex tickets". Make sure to read the terms and conditions on the travel agency's site before purchasing the ticket, so you know what applies if you need to rebook.
How do I cancel my flight?
Most cheap flight tickets cannot be cancelled or rebooked. Make sure to check the terms and conditions when purchasing the trip. Before buying a trip you should check whether you have any cancellation protection. Such protection may be included in your home insurance or travel insurance — check with your insurance company. Cancellation protection may also be included in a credit or debit card you use to pay for the trip — check with your bank. Most travel agencies offer cancellation protection for an additional cost. If you have purchased a trip and are unable to travel you need to contact the travel agency you bought the trip from to check if there is any solution.
Remember to review your insurance before booking your ticket, so that you know the conditions concerning travel cancellation. A simple travel insurance is commonly included in your home insurance policy or if you pay using a bank/credit card. There is also complementary and more comprehensive insurance available from the insurance company or online travel agency/airline when you book your ticket.
Will I receive a paper ticket?
The paper ticket has almost completely disappeared. The vast majority of travel agencies first send out a booking confirmation by email, and the actual ticket also arrives by email later. Virtually all airlines have switched to electronic flight tickets, meaning the traveller's details are stored in the airline's computer systems — the traveller only needs to show their passport at check-in to receive a boarding pass needed for the flight. More and more airlines also offer electronic check-in at the airport, at home on the computer or via mobile phone. All travel agencies send out a booking confirmation. If you have not received this confirmation you should check that it hasn't ended up in your spam folder. If you receive no confirmation you must contact the travel agency you purchased the trip from.
Can I verify that my booking has been made correctly?
The easiest way to check your ticket online is to log in with the airline using your booking code and last name or email address. Regardless of whether you purchased your ticket directly from the airline or through a travel agency, you can view the ticket there.:
- Amadeus – http://www.checkmytrip.com
- Sabre – http://www.virtuallythere.com
- Worldspan – http://mytripandmore.com
Some low-cost airlines dot not use a GDS and their tickets/bookings can only be checked with each respective airline.
Can I trust the travel agencies participating in the price comparison at Überflieger.de?
Überflieger.de only includes large, well-known and reputable travel agencies that have been on the market for at least 12 months. Überflieger.de continuously monitors the market and the participating travel agencies to prevent users from being affected by unscrupulous operators. Please note that Überflieger.de in some cases also shows prices from foreign travel agencies that may have a lower level of service or longer response times than some Swedish travel agencies. It is important that you as a customer read all information provided on the travel agency's site in connection with booking. Competition for customers between travel agencies is fierce, which drives flight ticket prices down. The downside of this price war is that the level of service at travel agencies can sometimes be low. It is important to be alert when booking and to choose a travel agency that offers the level of service you desire, in case you need to contact the travel agency after the booking has been made. If you want Swedish-speaking customer service or the option of service by telephone you should check this before booking.
Competition for customers is intense, which puts pressure on ticket prices. The flip side of this is that the service level at some travel agencies can be quite low. Pay attention when booking to ensure that you select the right service level, in case you need to contact the travel agency after booking.
Can I book flight tickets via Überflieger.de?
Überflieger.de is a search engine that only compares prices between different travel companies online. We sell no tickets ourselves.
What happens when I click "Go to trip"?
When you click "Go to trip" you leave Flygresor.se and proceed to the website of the travel agency selling the ticket.
Are there cheaper tickets for children and young people?
Some travel agencies have special prices for children, so it is important to enter the age of minors in the search to get the best possible price. Youth tickets are only available from certain travel agencies for certain trips and can be searched on Überflieger.de for people between 12–25 years of age. These cannot be booked together with adult tickets and must be searched separately, which is due to the airlines' booking systems.
What do I do if I need assistance at the airport?
Contact the travel agency you have purchased or are planning to purchase the trip from to check whether assistance is available on your specific trip and how to go about booking it. At Swedish airports, assistance must be booked in advance through the airline, you can find more information here: https://www.swedavia.se/arlanda/sarskilda-behov/ https://www.hallakonsument.se/varor-och-tjanster/flygresa-med-funktionsnedsattning/
Can I see which travel agency is selling the ticket before clicking "Go to trip"?
To the left of the "Go to trip" button you can see which travel agency is selling the trip.
What do I do if I did not receive or lost my confirmation email?
Contact the travel company that sold you the trip.
I did not receive confirmation of my booking, can you resend it?
Überflieger.de is a search engine and cannot track any bookings, please contact the travel company that you booked the tickets with.
